Lawyers say they can’t find the parents of 545 migrant children separated

WASHINGTON — Lawyers appointed by a federal judge to identify migrant families who were separated 2 by the Trump administration say that they have yet to track down the parents of 545 children and that 3 about two-thirds of those parents were deported to Central America without their children, according to 4 a filing Tuesday from the American Civil Liberties Union. 5 The

Trump administration instituted a “zero tolerance” policy in 2018 that separated migrant children 6 and parents at the southern U.S. border. The administration later confirmed that it had actually begun 7 separating families in 2017 along some parts of the border under a pilot program. The ACLU and other 8 pro-bono law firms were tasked with finding the members of families separated during the pilot program. 9 Unlike the 2,800 families separated under zero tolerance in 2018, most of whom remained in custody 10 when the policy was ended by executive order, many of the more than 1,000 parents separated from 11 their children under the pilot program had already been deported before a federal judge in California 12 ordered that they be found.

Maior surpresa eles têm quando me colocam no berço – desço meia hora depois, rindo e pedindo comida! Rindo! Àquela hora,

    9h20min – Já fui amamentado, já passei da fase oral – meus pais (ele, dono de um pequeno armazém; ela, de prendas domésticas) já aceitaram, ao menos em parte, a realidade, depois que o pediatra (está aí uma especialidade que não me serve) lhes explicou o diagnóstico e o prognóstico. E já estou com dentes! Em poucos minutos (de acordo com o relógio de meu pai, bem entendido) tenho sarampo, varicela, essas coisas todas.

    Meus pais me matriculam na escola, não se dando conta que às 10h40min, quando a sineta bater para o recreio, já terei idade para concluir o primeiro grau. Vou para a escola de patinete; já na esquina, porém, abandono o brinquedo que parece-me então muito infantil. Volto-me, e lá estão os meus pais chorando, pobre gente.

    10h20min – Não posso esperar o recreio; peço licença à professora e saio. Vou ao banheiro; a seiva da vida circula impaciente em minhas veias. Manipulo-me. Meu desejo tem nome: Mara, da oitava série. Por enquanto é mais velha do que eu. Lá pelas onze horas poderia namorá-la – mas então, já não estarei no colégio. THAILAND

Khao Lak and Phi Phi islands are still off limits.
[5] In Phuket, where the worst-hit areas were Patong
Beach and Kamala Bay, some resorts are
operating normally, but the devastation is not
yet cleared up everywhere. According to the
Tourism Authority of Thailand, the island of
[10] Ko Lanta has sustained only minimal damage,
and Krabi is back to normal. The worst-hit hotel
in Krabi, the Rayavadee, will reopen fully on
March 6. Trang province, in the south, is said
to be fine, although the upcoming islands of
[15] Ko Yao and Ko Racha were affected. More

SRI LANKA

The southwest, south and east coasts were all
badly affected, including the popular beach
[20] resorts between Kalutara and Galle. Many hotels
are ruined; others have reopened and are
anxious to receive guests. Surrounding villages
sustained damage, but most hotels are self-

contained. The road south from the capital,
[25] Colombo, may be prone to traffic delays.
Resorts to the north of Colombo were not
damaged, and all of the interior, including the
Yala National Park, is open for business. More
